Night before classes

September 4th, 2005

Okay, I have now transitioned the epkphoto.com Forum to the new site design. Let me know if anything is less useful or visually pleasing than before :). I also posted some new photos earlier today. They are of a tour some of the Honors students took in the Rochester Mt. Hope Cemetery. Thanks for all the feedback on the site so far! Please enjoy it…I've put a lot of work in this, you know ;). Now it's time to sleep for tomorrow's classes.

Topics of the day…

August 31st, 2005

I'm starting to like the new design. I just created a topic in the epkphoto.com Forum where you can leave feedback on the change. Please let me know what you think!

In other news…the entering freshman of RIT's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences (CIAS) had a cookout and went bowling today. We were planning on going to a nearby amusement/water park (Seabreeze), but the remnants of Hurricane Katrina caused some wind damage at the park last night. Read the rest of this entry »

It's official

August 31st, 2005

The day has finally arrived. I'm posting shortly after midnight to ring in the new site design! It's best to do these things after peak hours, you know. For now, I have just implemented the new design on the Main page. Shortly I will begin transitioning the rest of the pages on the site. Feel free to comment on the change in the epkphoto.com Forum!! I hope no one gets disoriented with the new design…if so, let me know :p

Honors Orientation

August 28th, 2005

I'm back from our Honors Orientation overnight trip to Camp Stella Maris. We all had a great time getting to know a bit about each other and the Honors program itself. I took several photos that I'll post on the site eventually. Today I'm sitting in my dorm watching the rest of the RIT freshman frantically unpack and move in. Keep checking the site for updates!

From my dorm

August 26th, 2005

Here I am at RIT!! I've just about settled into my dorm with all my stuff surrounding me. My roommate (Timothy) hasn't arrived yet, so I hope he's okay with having the other side of the room. It is quite nice here compared with the high 90 degree temperatures back home. Too bad it's going to start cooling down fast within a few weeks. I'll take some photos to post eventually. Now it's time to meet people 🙂

Final packing for college

August 24th, 2005

Well, here it is…my last day at home before I head to college. While I am running around packing up everything under the sun, you can enjoy these two new photo galleries :p > More Kitten Photos and some cool wildlife shots I took in one of my mom's coworkers' backyard. Thanks for the opportunity Kathy and Paul! Enjoy the photos and I'll be sure to update things a bit when I get settled at RIT!!

Check the Forum

July 24th, 2005

I just wanted to let everyone know I posted a few photos Aunt Kim sent me of a little construction project they did. Check the Family area of the epkphoto.com Forum to see them. Also, I am nearing completion of the first part of my site redesign. I think I'll apply the new look to the Main page first and slowly phase it in other sections of the site as I hear feedback.

Comments

July 19th, 2005

As I strive to post to my web log more often, more people will become aware that I am doing so and will check the site more often :). So, if you are one of those people, remember you can always comment on anything regarding this website (or anything else, for that matter) in the epkphoto.com Forum. Eventually I may add comment functionality to the blog itself. Perhaps I may even cave in and install some open source blog software on my site instead of hand coding a solution. The possibilities are endless! :p

More about the update

July 18th, 2005

The site update I am working on is coming along smoothly. Perhaps it won't be too long until I implement it. I am thinking of taking things on page at a time…with the main page first. Then I can apply the new look to other pages when I know they'll look right. The main benefits of the redesign will be: allowing the site to resize based on the browser width to accommodate people with high resolution displays without leaving low res users behind, the site will look acceptable when printed, increased flexibility on my end to add new features and content. The picture with this post gives you a tiny preview of what to expect. :p

Site update in the works

July 16th, 2005

I am currently working on an update to the website's look and feel. The basic code that currently makes things run is in pretty good shape. The forum and user log in system seems to work (there are a couple glitches, though). So at this point, I want to make the site itself look better, not just run better. I am going to ditch the black background in favor of something more printable and readable. It may take a few weeks before the changes go live, but look for it soon 🙂
